With a mission to strengthen Plano families in need, the free Fall Fair returns Oct. 16; event offers free health and dental screenings, flu shots, a Job Fair/Career Corner, plus kids activities and entertainment
WHAT: While Plano is among the more affluent cities in North Texas, it has a growing population of families that are facing challenges … especially with the lingering pandemic. With a mission to strengthen Plano families in need, Plano Mayor John Muns will announce plans for the third-annual Plano Families First Fall Fair at a VIRTUAL kick-off event Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m.
The kick-off will provide a preview of the event – from flu shots, health and dental screenings, to entertainment, a Job Fair and free school supplies for the first 200 children. While a few of the health services will be indoors (social distancing will be encouraged), most of the fair will be held outdoors.
Joining Mayor Muns will be Plano ISD Superintendent Sara Bonser and representatives from Boeing and Children’s Health.
HIGHLIGHTS: The Plano Families First Fall Fair will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Plano Event Center. Garnering community-wide support from local business and nonprofit sectors, it will provide an array of services to those seeking community, educational and career services and resources. The Fall Fair is free and open to families who reside in Plano or attend Plano schools.
The Job Fair will bring together a variety of employers looking to fill full-time, part-time and seasonal positions, and a career corner will provide adults with resume tips and a free LinkedIn headshot taken by a professional photographer.
Families can take advantage of free health and dental screenings, fluoride varnishes and flu shots for adults and children. Also on tap are CPR demos led by the Plano Fire Department, book giveaways, kids crafts, inflatables, superhero appearances by Wonder Woman and Spiderman, entertainment, and a “petting zoo” where children can learn and play with musical instruments provided by the Plano Symphony Orchestra.
