FORT WORTH, Texas – Men who care for aging parents, partners, loved ones, and veterans are joining forces with Pastor PAT Bailey, your caregiver coach, for Dr. Opal Lee’s annual Juneteenth Freedom Walk on June 19.

The walk starts at 9 a.m. in Will Rogers Square, 3401 W. Lancaster Avenue, in Fort Worth, Texas.

During the walk, Pastor PAT, founder of Finding New Tomorrows and its Caregiver Circle, encourages caregivers to stop by her resource tent to get information, support, and resources designed to help men and all caregivers thrive. Visitors can also enter a raffle for tickets to fun events and receive complimentary giveaways during the ‘Men Who Care’ initiative.

As an ordained pastor, certified belief therapist, certified dementia practitioner, and marketing executive, Pastor PAT is dedicated to sharing valuable lessons learned after caring for her mother with Alzheimer’s for seven years.

“Freedom means more than independence,” said Pastor PAT, a sponsor of the 2.5-mile walk.

“On Juneteenth, we want to support all caregivers’ mental health by reminding them that they shouldn’t carry life’s burdens alone,” Pastor PAT said. “The Juneteenth Walk is about freedom, hope and community,” she added, “and serves as an opportunity to share vital information that supports ‘Men Who Care’ during Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month.”

Now 100 years old, Lee continues the annual walk to commemorate the 2.5 years it took for news of emancipation and freedom to reach enslaved people in Texas after the Civil War.
