2nd Annual Glenn Heights County Line Cook off officially sanctioned by Outlaw BBQ Association

GLENN HEIGHTS, TX – Glenn Heights will host its 2nd annual County Line Cookoff on March 27th and 28th, and this year the event has been officially sanctioned by the Outlaw BBQ Association.

The competition received its formal nod last week with the support of Texas State Representative Brian Harrison.

“I was proud to be able to support the Red Oak Area Chamber and provide a proclamation to Glenn Heights Councilman and BBQ Competition Chair, Travis Bruton to make the competition an official state championship cookoff,” Harrison said. “I am honored to represent so many amazing businesses in Red Oak and Glenn Heights and to fight for their freedom and liberty in Austin.”

The Glenn Heights County Line Cook-Off to be hosted at Glenn Heights Heritage Park will bring together barbecue teams, judges, and community members for a day of friendly competition and great food. Teams will compete for top honors and bragging rights while judges determine the best barbecue of the day.

“As Chair of the Cook-Off and a board member of the Red Oak Area Chamber, I’m proud that this event brings our community together around great barbecue, friendly competition, and a whole lot of Texas pride,” Bruton said. “And if you’ve ever thought about competing in a cook-off, this might be your sign to fire up that smoker and come join us.”

Bruton is also personally sponsoring the next two teams from Glenn Heights that reach out and sign up.

“At the end of the day, this event is really about the teams, the community, the pitmasters bringing their best recipes and the community judges who have the very tough job of tasting it all,” he added.

The categories include brisket, ribs, and chicken and local pitmasters of all experience levels are encouraged to sign up and compete. The top 10 competitors will be awarded, as well as an overall Grand Champion and Reserve Champion for the entire event, with a guaranteed $5000 payout.

Aside from the main competition, there will be two different $20 Jackpot competitions, which are open to everyone, not just full competitors.

On Friday night there will also be a competition for the best Ribeye Steak.

On Saturday morning bright and early at 9 a.m. a competition will be held for the best breakfast taco.

Community members who enjoy barbecue are invited to serve as judges and help crown this year’s winners.

“The Glenn Heights County Line Cook-Off is shaping up to be an incredible event, with barbecue teams coming from all around to compete for bragging rights and the title of best on the pit,” Bruton concluded. “But I’d really love to see more teams representing Glenn Heights step up to the smoker and show what our hometown can do.”
