It was about legacy. The 2026 Pioneering Excellence Awards & Black History Program on Feb. 19, 2026 at Collin College Conference Center in Frisco, Texas celebrated community leaders and legacy builders, and delivered a conversation with former NFL powerhouse Greg Ellis who remains a champion off the field in the worlds of filmmaking and mental health. Moderated by talented National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) member and Good Morning Texas host Erin Hunter with the theme of “Commemorating Yesterday. Empowering Tomorrow,” the program was excellent… the pioneering way. Congratulations to organization president Tuere Williams and all who poured into the evening of impact and purpose. The event also included a prayer delivered by Reverend Phillip McLeod, a performance of the Black National Anthem “Lift Every Voice” by Jada Tolbert, and a dance performance by A Heart of Gold Dance Company. Congratulations to the honorees:

  • Pioneering Excellence Awards Recognition
  • Civic Engagement – Minnie’s Food Pantry
  • Education – The HBCU Project
  • Philanthropy – The Village Giving Circle
  • SocialJustice – Dallas CASA
  • STEM – Black Men White Coats
  • The Arts – A Heart of Gold Dance Company
