As an incentive for community members to get caught up with required vaccinations before the back-to-school rush in August, Garland Public Health Clinic is waiving administration fees for Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) immunizations for infants and children through age 18 and Adult Safety Net (ASN)
immunizations for adults.
The Garland Public Health Clinic, 206 Carver St., accepts walk-ins for immunization from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Parents should bring a child’s immunization records. Call 972-205-3370 for more information.
The TVFC Program is funded with federal and state money. Children who do not have health insurance or who have health insurance that does not cover vaccines qualify, as well as children who are enrolled in Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program. Most major health insurance plans cover vaccines for children and adults at little or no cost too. Children need different vaccines at different ages. Kids who are 4 to 6 years old are due for boosters for four vaccines: DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis), chickenpox, MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) and polio. Preteens and teens need TDaP (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis), HPV (human papillomavirus) and MCV/MEN B (meningococcal conjugate) vaccines. College students need to have a current MCV and MEN B vaccinations before enrolling.
