Dallas-area residents are invited to the South Dallas Summer Drive-In on Friday, Sept. 18 at 8:30 pm The event aims to bring together the Dallas community through cinema that explores and celebrates the Black experience and will showcase films by talented local artists at the historic Forest Theater on MLK Boulevard.
At the second of two Friday night events, there will be a screening of Justin Rhodes’ It’s a Wonderful Plight, a hip-hop musical that addresses serious topics in a culturally sensitive way. Tickets are free to the public, but donations will be accepted to raise money for the Forest Theater Redevelopment Fund.
