Dwight Bernard Nickerson

IN THE CARE OF
Singing Hills Funeral Home

Dwight Bernard Nickerson was welcomed into the family on January 6, 1958 to the parentage of Nadine Dye and Scalar V. Langston. As time progressed it was evident that Dwight’s gentle and quite spirit would be a blessing to all persons he encountered.

Dwight received his formal education from Terrell Independent School District graduating High School with the Class of 1976. During this time, he received recognition of Perfect Attendance for all twelve years of schooling. He furthered his academic studies at Dallas County Community College District [Dallas College].

As a young man Dwight spent his school breaks working under the tutelage of his Uncles. Perhaps it wasn’t the ideal school break, but, lifelong friendships were established; work ethic skills were shown and taught; as well as leadership and community service skills developed. Because of this Dwight was prepared to offer 40 plus years of Industrial Machinery Mechanics experience to MeadWestvaco Corporation and PepsiCo. Dwight was a member of the Greater McIntyre Chapel Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Usher, and wherever else needed.

In his leisure you could find him bowling with the team or coaching one of his nephews; roller skating; rebuilding/tuning up a motorcycle(s) afterward riding his nieces around. On any given Sunday afternoon Dwight could be found watching NHRA; another sport and most excitedly rooting against the Dallas Cowboys.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents; aunts; uncles, and other family members.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Toyree Nickerson and Tyrah Nickerson; sister: Patricia Dye Blue (Joseph); Nieces: Keara Blue-Smith (Alonza III) and Keelana Blue-Hamilton (Don). Great Nieces and Nephews: Kullen (KulleWulle); Zaria (ZZZZZ); Donte’ (Donte’); Allden (Allde); Parker (Piggy); uncles: Curbie Nickerson Sr. and B.L. Rhodes Sr. (Dalene); Exceptional Care Givers: Michael Nickerson; Brenda Dunn Smith; Terence Nickerson; and staff of Baylor Scott White Inc., numerous cousins; fellow co-workers; and friends.
