PORT-AU-PRINCE – Violent clashes between warring gangs and a wave of kidnappings in February has left three people dead and more than twenty taken for ransom, local media reported this week.

On Feb. 9, armed gangs fighting in Martissant, in the south of Port-au-Prince, shot dead three people, including a bus driver. Several members of rival gangs were reportedly also killed during these clashes, Le Nouvelliste reported.

On the same day, kidnappers released 20 passengers kidnapped last week in Croix-des-Bouquets from the public transport bus Sans-Souci.
