Irving, Texas, August 22, 2026 – At approximately 5:50 p.m., the Irving Police Department was dispatched to the 300 block of Rolston Road in reference to a domestic disturbance in progress. As officers arrived at the scene, they encountered a female suspect standing in the middle of the street holding a knife and making threats. Officers gave the suspect verbal commands, but she failed to comply and continued moving toward them.
One officer deployed a less-lethal weapon; however, it did not stop the suspect. She continued advancing toward the officers in a threatening manner while still holding the knife. At that time, a second officer discharged their duty weapon, striking the suspect. The officers immediately rendered aid until the Irving Fire Department arrived to transport her to a local hospital. Her condition is currently unknown. No officers were injured during the incident.
This investigation is in its very early stages, and no additional information is available at this time. As is standard procedure following an officer-involved shooting, the Irving Police Department will conduct both criminal and administrative investigations. The Dallas County Public Integrity Unit will also conduct a separate investigation. All investigations are currently underway, and no further information will be released at this time.
