Stroll through a winter wonderland filled with sparkling lights at A Merry Month of Everything, Addison’s monthlong celebration of the season.  Enjoy live entertainment, indoor performances at the Addison Performing Arts Centre and festive activities for the whole family. The events run from Dec. 1 through 31 at Addison Circle Park. The surrounding neighborhood is full of restaurants, pubs and wine bars for you to explore. And on Dec. 5, don’t miss Addison Aglow, the city’s annual lighting of a 32-foot tree. Get there by taking the Silver Line to Addison Station.

Prepare to be dazzled by Dallas Zoo Lights. Featuring two million lights and dozens of animal-shaped light sculptures and lanterns, along with larger-than-life themed areas and other jolly surprises, the zoo’s yearly extravaganza takes place from Nov. 13 through Jan. 3. Getting there is easy – just take the Red Line to Dallas Zoo Station.

Your journey of holiday lights doesn’t end there! The Fort Worth Botanic Garden’s breathtaking display features more than one million synchronized lights, holiday music and Santa Claus. Christmas in the Garden happens from Nov. 20 until Jan. 3. It makes a great day trip, since the garden is in the Fort Worth Cultural District, giving you plenty to explore. To get there, take the TRE to Fort Worth Central Station, then catch Trinity Metro’s bus route 2.

’Tis also the season for time-tested, classic performances. At Dallas Theater Center’s A Christmas Carol, you’ll rediscover the familiar tale of Scrooge’s redemption and the true spirit of Christmas. Experience the spectacular sets and stirring melodies that make it a seasonal tradition Nov. 27 through Dec. 27 at the Wyly Theatre. Before or after the show, be sure to stroll over to Klyde Warren Park to check out the magnificent holiday tree, which will be officially lit on Dec. 5. It’s all walkable from Pearl/Arts District Station on the Red, Blue, Green and Orange lines.

If someone in your family loves adventure – and trains – you’re in luck. While you’re there, wander down historic Main Street, where boutiques are decked out with seasonal décor; discover handmade treasures at the Grapevine Christmas Market; and find out why the town is called the “Christmas Capital of Texas.” You can create these lasting holiday memories Nov. 27 until Dec. 30 atGrapevine Vintage Railroad – located right next to TEXRail’s Grapevine/Main Street Station. Transfer to TEXRail at the Silver Line’s DFW Airport North Station.

The holiday season is also a time for giving back. That’s why DART is once again asking riders to help make the holidays sweeter for neighbors in need through its annual Stuff A Bus campaign. From Nov. 9 through Dec. 11, you’re invited to help fill a bus with cheer by donating winter clothing, blankets, toiletries, toys, adult socks, canned goods and more. With your help, DART can make a difference in the lives of North Texas seniors, children and families in need. Discover all the ways you can contribute at DART.org/StuffABus.
