Chief Cherise Giordani Gause serves as Chief of Police for the North Miami Police Department. She began her career as an emergency dispatcher and eventually became the First Assistant Chief of Police. Chief Gause became the first Haitian-American woman to serve as a police chief in the United States. A member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives, and International Association of Chiefs of Police, she is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Chief Gause received her Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Miami-Dade College, Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from Barry University, and Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Union Institute and University.
