Chief Cerelyn “C.J.” Davis currently serves as Chief of Police for the Memphis Police Department, where she has more than 35 years of experience in law enforcement. She previously served as Chief of Police for the City of Durham, North Carolina, and held several leadership positions with the Atlanta Police Department. In 2021, Chief Davis became the first female police chief for the Memphis Police Department and the first Black woman to hold the position. A past president of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, Chief Davis earned her B.A. in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University and M.A. in Public Administration from Central Michigan University.
