The Pink Power Brunch presented by the Celebrating Life Foundation and Glam Honey Co. took place on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025 at the Willie B. Johnson Recreation Center in Dallas. Powerhouse breast cancer advocate, Sylvia Powers, and famed makeup artist, Gia McCloud, joined forces for this event at a location near and dear to McCloud’s heart as her first foray into employment.
“I worked at this recreation center beginning as a teenager,” McCloud shared with attendees. “I grew up here and this was a way to give back to my village.”
McCloud praised Powers for her multi-decade commitment to breast cancer awareness and assistance to so many battling the disease.
“Under her leadership, the [Celebrating Life] foundation has distributed over one million breast self-exam cards and partnered with organizations across the nation,” McCloud shared of Powers’ efforts.
Powers shared how she and McCloud were initially brought together through a mutual connection that has since resulted in a strong bond.
“As soon as she told me she wanted to do a breast cancer event, she knew I was all in and for her,” Powers said as McCloud stood beside her gently wiping her own tears.
The event included vocal performances by VirLinda Stanton and speakers Latasha Traylor, BSN, RN and journalist Eva D. Coleman sharing their breast cancer journeys.
Throughout the Pink Power Brunch, emphasis was placed on breast cancer being a year-round concern and not just for the month of October. Knowing your body and early detection via mammograms were focus points as well.
