OBIT: PATRICIA A WILLIAMS

Patricia A. Williams, a pioneering figure in her community and a dedicated public servant, passed away on October 12, 2025, at the age of 70 in Waxahachie, Texas. Born on July 31, 1955, in Port Arthur, Texas, Patricia exemplified the virtues of loyalty, love, and a steadfast commitment to family and service throughout her life.

Patricia’s career was marked by her groundbreaking achievement as the first African American woman to become a Postmaster in the Dallas, Tx.  This accomplishment not only showcased her leadership but also opened doors for many who came after her. Her career was defined by a profound dedication to her work and a consistent desire to help others.

In addition to her impressive professional achievements, Patricia was known for her unwavering loyalty to her family and friends. As a matriarch and trailblazer, she had a strong presence in her community, where she was celebrated for her civil rights activism and her commitment to improving the lives of those around her. One of her proudest accomplishments was creating one of the first programs aimed at feeding underprivileged children, reflecting her lifelong belief in service and compassion.

Patricia enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. An avid Dallas Cowboys fan, she often expressed her passion for football with enthusiasm and joy. Her love for cooking allowed her to share her warmth and hospitality with family, often bringing them together around the dining table, further emphasizing her family-first approach to life.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her legacy will endure through the countless lives she touched.

A visitation will be held on October 17, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, located at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75224. This will be followed by a funeral service on October 18, 2025, beginning at 9:00 AM., with Burial at Laurel Land Cemetery – Dallas., 

Patricia A. Williams leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and determination, reminding us all of the power of one individual to effect meaningful change and foster a spirit of community and love.
