Over three thousand strong, attendees were proof positive that they were ready for a night out to take in the sounds for opening night of The Black Academy of Arts and Letters 8th Riverfront Jazz Festival in Fair Park’s Automobile Building.
The audience wore white as instructed in tribute to recently departed and legendary artists Roberta Flack, Roy Ayers, Angie Stone and Frankie Beverly. They also brought red roses and white carnations as symbolic gestures for the love, passion, devotion, gift and spirit these artists contributed to the world.
The evening featured Lyfe Jennings, Raheem DeVaughn and Stokley, dubbed by organizers as “The Kings of Love.” Their individual, dynamic performances had people dancing and singing along in delight.
