A social media group develops into a homegrown movement

What was birthed as a Facebook group in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic as Black Women Who Love Outdoor Living Spaces has given rise to so much more.

“This is bigger than patios and pillows,” group founder Tara Paige, also known as The Patieaux Chic, said as I witnessed firsthand how the large group of women wearing yellow at The Patio Chic Foundation “Bloom Suga” Conference (TPCCON), recently held in Arlington, Texas, became a beacon of such bright light for a fellow member recently diagnosed with an incurable medical condition.

They’re rooted in self care and mental health.
