Superb Woman: Shereka Wright

Shereka Wright, born in Fort Riley, Kansas, is the head coach of the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) women’s basketball team. She played college basketball at Purdue University, earning a health and fitness degree. Wright was selected 13th overall in the 2004 WNBA Draft by the Detroit Shock and played two seasons with the Phoenix Mercury. Before joining UTA, she was an assistant coach at Texas Tech, Alabama, and Vanderbilt. Named to the Purdue Athletics Hall of Fame in 2020, Wright led UTA to an NCAA Tournament appearance in her second season and earned Sun Belt Coach of the Year honors.
