Holiday invitational basketball tournament showcases talented girls
The Dallas Independent School District (ISD) Holiday Invitational Tournament captured full court with 16 girls teams from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and beyond in heavy competition. The games have taken place at Dallas ISD’s W. T. White and Roosevelt High Schools on Dec. 26 and 27, 2024 with the final championship and consolation matches scheduled for Dec. 28, 2024 at Ellis Davis Field House in Dallas.
Many of the games were down to the wire, with teams going into overtime play in order to secure wins. Frisco Emerson High School in McKinney, Texas lost initial matchups on Thursday and had two games on Friday go into overtime, securing a win in the first one against W.T. White High School before being eliminated by a loss to Houston Nimitz in an evening match. Notable powerhouse DeSoto High School won both games at the start of the tournament against North Mesquite and W.T. White on Thursday and lost both Friday matches against McKinney North and Wylie respectively.
All of the ladies displayed their toughness in the face of adversity by never giving up. The crowds were highly engaged rooting for their favorite teams.
