Rufus Clay, a cherished member of the Dallas community, passed away on October 8, 2024, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 74. Born on January 3, 1950, in Atlanta, Texas,  was known for his quiet demeanor and generous spirit. He dedicated many years of his life working for the of Dallas in the Sanitation Department, where he made numerous contributions to the community. 

A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, Rufus served in the Army with honor and distinction. His commitment to his country was matched only by his devotion to his family. Rufus was especially proud of his wife, grandchildren, holding them close in his heart and sharing in their lives with joy and enthusiasm.

Rufus possessed a giving heart and stood firm in his beliefs, qualities that endeared him to many. He was an outgoing individual who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, such as fishing and appreciating nature. In his spare time, he found solace in music and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Mavericks.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on October 22, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, located at 4155 South R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75224. A funeral service will be held the following day, October 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Empowerment Central Church, located at 4440 South Malcolm X Boulevard, Dallas, TX 75215.

Rufus Clay will be remembered for his quiet strength, his unwavering love for his family, and the positive impact he made in the lives of those around him. His legacy of kindness and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him.
