Gerald Glenn Sloan, an indomitable spirit who brightened the lives of those fortunate enough to know him, departed this world on September 16, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Born on March 21, 1962, in Shreveport, Louisiana, he journeyed through life with a heart full of compassion and laughter, always in good spirits, leaving behind a legacy woven with joy, humor, and love.

A witty soul, Gerald possessed the rare gift of making others laugh, often cracking jokes that would resonate long after the punchline had faded. His love for life was palpable, drawing family and friends into a warm embrace of laughter and camaraderie. Family-oriented at his core, Gerald held his loved ones dear, and his proudest accomplishments were embodied in the smiles of his son Terry and his cherished grandson. The bonds he forged were unbreakable, and his stories will echo through the hearts of those who knew him, a testament to the love he freely shared.

Gerald’s interests were as vivid as his personality. He delighted in writing poetry and speeches, crafting words that danced with emotion and creativity. A passionate player of dominoes and checkers, he could often be found strategizing his next move while relishing the company of friends. Music was another sanctuary for him; he cherished the blues, finding solace in the rich melodies that spoke to the essence of life.

As we gather to remember Gerald, we invite you to join us for a viewing on September 20, 2024, from 1 PM to 7 PM at the Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. A funeral service celebrating his vibrant life will follow the next day, September 21, 2024, at 9 AM at the same location.

Though he may be gone from our sight, Gerald Glenn Sloan will forever remain a shining star in the constellation of our hearts, his laughter and love guiding us through the corridors of our memories. A life well-lived, he shall be missed, and we will carry his spirit with us always.
