The Texas Bankers Association (TBA) recently presented Comerica Bank with a Texas Bankers Foundation Cornerstone Award for Comerica BusinessHQ™during a special awards luncheon on Thursday at the 139th TBA Convention. Comerica BusinessHQ is a collaborative community space that provides integral services and value to small businesses in the Southern sector of Dallas.
“Accepting the Cornerstone Award on the one-year anniversary (May 9) of our BusinessHQ grand opening is a full circle moment,” said Brandon Jones, Comerica Senior Vice President, National External Affairs Director and BusinessHQ project lead. “It is an honor to be recognized as a cornerstone of our community and for our bank’s most significant contribution to the Southern sector’s economic revitalization efforts.”
Through a mix of no-cost coworking spaces, incubation fellowships and technical assistance, Comerica BusinessHQ addresses the three essential needs of aspiring small businesses: capital, cultivation and connectivity. In 2023, and just seven months of operations since its grand opening, Comerica BusinessHQ reported the measured success below:
- 120-plus enrolled members
- 1,674 people served
- 2,481 hours of co-working utilized by small business owners and nonprofits
- $42,408 of no-cost co-working space provided
- $9,184 of in-kind rent provided to incubation nonprofit partner
This marks the seventh time TBA has selected Comerica as a Cornerstone Award winner (2012: Community Resource Center, 2014: Thanksgiving Art Contest, 2015: Give Back, Buy a Backpack, 2016: Reinvesting in Lockwood, 2017: Filling Ella Austin Community Center’s Bookshelves, 2019: Gift of Knowledge).
The charitable arm of the TBA also presented Comerica with three consecutive Leaders in Financial Education (LiFE) awards prior to this most recent accolade (2020: EMPOWER Series, 2021: Comerica Business $ense Bootcamp and 2022: Banks for Babies/Project Still I Rise).
The 2024 Texas Bankers Foundation award winners, including Comerica, will be featured in the July/August edition of the Texas Banking Magazine, the official publication of the Texas Bankers Association.
