Crockett Secures $10,476,031 For Local Projects in First Package of Government Funding for FY2024

WASHINGTON — Today, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) secured $10,476,031 in Community Project Funding for Texas’ 30th Congressional District in the first package of the FY 2024 appropriations bills. The package includes the Agriculture; Energy and Water; Military Construction-VA; Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development; Commerce, Justice, and Science; and Interior appropriations bills. H.Res. 1061, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024, will fund six of the twelve necessary appropriations bills until the end of the FY 2025. This funding, secured by Congresswoman Crockett, provides investment and resources for much-needed infrastructure improvements, food security, and community-based services and outreach through projects across this diverse district. Crockett voted in favor of the bill which passed out of the House Wednesday afternoon.

“After over a year of tireless work and advocacy, I’m thrilled to cast my vote to secure nearly $10.5 million for the people of Texas’ 30th Congressional District. The 11 projects that will be funded by this legislation will be truly transformational for my district: funding a new Resource Center for Bonton Farms food co-op in Dallas, updating the City of Lancaster’s wastewater system, renovating the Park South Family YMCA, and much more,” Rep. Crockett said. “These projects represent a foundational investment in the food security, infrastructure, and development of the under-resourced communities of TX-30, and I look forward to building on these investments for years to come. We’re just getting started!”

Rep. Crockett championed funding for 11 projects that will directly benefit Texas’ 30th Congressional District residents under this bill. These include:

$600,000 for Bonton Farms Bexar Street Resource Center
$959,752 to City of Lancaster for wastewater improvement projects
$500,000 for University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law Community Lawyering Center (CLC) Permanent Location
$850,000 to Fair Park First for development of the Community Park at Fair Park
$850,000 to City of Grand Prairie for expansion of Lake Ridge Bridge
$1,666,279 to City of DeSoto for Hampton Road Redevelopment
$500,000 to Texas Trust for Public Land for Judge Charles R. Rose Community Park
$2,500,000 to City of Dallas for enhancements at Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center
$850,000 for renovation of Park South Family YMCA
$200,000 for technical improvements at DeSoto Regional Jail
$1,000,000 to City of Cedar Hill for US Highway 67/Tidwell Bridge and Intersection improvements

Rep. Crockett and House Democrats were successful in removing harmful extreme House Republican policies in this bill that sought to make abortion illegal everywhere, slash efforts to fight climate change, and threaten our national security. Instead, this bill will help keep our communities safe, fight inflation, and boost our economy. Taken together, the funding for Texas’ 30th Congressional District and the funding increases for critical government programs will continue to grow our local economy and support our communities.

This legislation is expected to be signed into law by President Biden later this week. A detailed summary of the bill is available here.
