Rynd Rogers

Rynd was born to Lionel and Doris Rogers on October 22, 1974, in Port Arthur, Texas, where he was raised alongside a large, loving family. He was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church at an early age. In 1992, he graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. He pursued higher education at Wiley College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1996. It was at Wiley College in 1994 where Rynd met the love of his life, LaTwina Monique Perrin. The two were married in 1998, and their love for each other was infinite.

Rynd’s dedication to education was remarkable. He served as a schoolteacher for 20 years, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless students. His passion for teaching was evident in his ability to make learning enjoyable, and he played a pivotal role in shaping young minds for a brighter future. As well, he was fondly known for his impeccable fashion sense and consistently being the most stylish person in any gathering…at least that was HIS opinion!

Rynd was a devoted member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., where he was known for his commitment and leadership within the fraternity. He was held in the highest regard and recognized as the only Kappa who could “walk on fire,” a testament to his exceptional character and courage.

Rynd was beloved and respected by many. The influential role he maintained within his friendships and connections is what made him so very special. Above all, however, Rynd was a family man. His unwavering love and adoration for his family was insurmountable.

He is survived by his wife, Monique Rogers, who was a true partner in every sense of the word. She stood by him and provided unwavering love, dedication, and support throughout his journey. Her commitment to their marriage made her the kind of wife he had always hoped for, and her care was a source of strength for him.

Also cherishing his memory is his loving mother, Doris Rogers, who provided him with love, dedication, and loyalty that was unparalleled; his cherished daughters, Danielle (Justin) Evans and Gabrielle (Ricky) Rogers; granddaughter, Blair, who held a special place in his heart; goddaughter, KK; two brothers, Darrel (Carol) and Mark Rogers; brothers-in law, Mario Perrin, Antonio Perrin, and Russell Fairris; aunts, Sarah Wilson, Molly Hill, Martha Chatman, Barbara Francois, Forest Harrison, Nena S. Harrison and Ruby Rogers; uncles, Wendell Harrison, Sr., Alfred Harrison, and Gralen Harrison; and a host of cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lionel Rogers, both his maternal and paternal grandparents, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins that he loved dearly.

Special thanks to Tori Page for being an amazing brother and friend to Rynd; cousins, April Hill Pickney, Anderson (Andy) Harrison, III, and Stacy C. Ojemeni for their exceptional support throughout the entire process; and Uncle Gralen, Clint Sandles, and the brotherhood of Kappa
