The presidential election on November 3 is less than a month away and the effort to get voters out to the polls continues.

Shay Wyrick-Cathey, state Democratic executive committeewoman for District 23, wants everyone to have a plan.

Coming from a politically active family, Wyrick-Cathey says she knows that voters could be hesitant to go to the polls because of COVID-19.

“We have to get them off the fence, they can’t be on the fence, they have to vote,” she said.

“Now is about figuring out the safest way for you to exercise your right to vote.”

She said she knows that this is a very important election and voters can’t and shouldn’t be intimidated.

“If you’re voting in person, figure out which early voting location you want to go to and what time, bring water if there’s going to be a long line,” Wyrick-Cathey said, adding that planning out the day to vote is the same as when planning a doctor’s visit. She wants everyone to strategize and plan carefully. “Not voting is not an option.”
