Jaleel Andrew Eugene Carruthers, affectionately known as Dewey, departed this life peacefully on August 1,2023 at the age of 29.
Jaleel was born March 15,1994 in Mount Vernon, New York to Jenniffer E. Carruthers and Noel Hussey Sr. He was the first born of Jenniffer’s children. Jaleel attended and participated in activities at Little Friendship Unified Freewill Baptist Church under the leadership of C.N Edwers. Jaleel moved to Dallas, TX with his Family in 2000 where he became a member of Living Word F.W.B church where he was a member of the choir and played the drums. During this time Jaleel was baptized under the care of the late Bishop Ralph Williams. Jaleel was a Dallas ISD graduate, where he graduated from Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy in 2013. Jaleel then joined the Antioch Fellowship M.B.C under the leadership of the late Dr. Karry D. Wesley where he participated in the Boys to Men program.
Jaleel loved playing Basketball, his favorite teams were the LA Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder, listening to music, playing video games and spending time with his family. He was a loving and caring person who could light up a room with his smile and infectious laughter.
Jaleel is preceded in death by his grandmother Lola M. Asson, great grandmother Etta J. Blue, grandfather Carlton C. Asson, and grandfather James E. Carruthers.
Those left to cherish sweet memories of lives that he was active in include his mother, Jenniffer E Carruthers, mother, Melinda L Blue; father, Noel Hussey Sr; brothers, Noel Hussey, Richard Blue(Diedra), Eli Blue-Reed, Malik Carruthers (Norvear), Tamik Carruthers, Shaimeek Carruthers, Tyler Carruthers; Sisters, Destinee Hussey, Shonda Carruthers, Anissa Hussey, Miya Hussey, Admyha Carruthers, Annabella Carruthers, and Marquita Robinson; Grandmother, Etta DeRizzo; Grandfather, Cecil Hussey; Nephews, Myles Carruthers, Jatavion Robinson, and Kemoney Norworthy; Nieces, Naomi Blue and Jaziyah Martin; Best Friend, Derrick Evans Jr(Dijonae), and Erica Chase and her children along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and godparents.
