Dallas Animal Services is offering their support for people who own a pet. Their main goal is to keep pets off the streets and to be safe.
“We realize that this is an incredibly difficult time for many Dallas residents, and we want the community to know that DAS is more than just a shelter or animal control, we are a resource center for pet owners,” said Ed Jamison, DAS director.
DAS organized a call center to help owners keep their pets inside of a home and not abandoned. For this project, DAS collaborated with Spay Neuter Network and has helped 31 percent of people to keep their pets.
Also, in August, DAS put together a resource guide to help owners who are experiencing financial problems due to COVID.
“If you’re struggling, we can do more than rehome your pet. We are working with non-profit community partners to help keep families together,” Jamison said.
