Dallas’s COVID-19 Rent Relief Program

By Ashley Moss
Staff Writer

Dallas residents who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic can still qualify for rent relief assistance through the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The Emergency Rent Assistance program is funded by the CARES Act, a federally funded initiative designed to help low-income households and persons who have been adversely impacted by COVID-19 through the loss of their employment income or who sustained a reduction in income and are delinquent in paying rent.

Residents who apply and are accepted can benefit from help for up to two months of past due unpaid rent directly to the landlord for up to $1,500 per month, or a total of $3,000.  After reviewing eligibility, residents are encouraged to apply for emergency rent assistance on https://dallascaresactrent.org/. Families who are currently receiving housing assistance from any government agency/organization, including DHA are not eligible for this program.
