Mrs. Ida Louise Alexander was born on December 09, 1929 in Corsicana, Texas to Mr. Lucion Jessie Sr. and Essie Johnson. She received her formal education in the Corsicana School District. Mrs. Alexander professed a faith in Christ in her early life and united with the Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Corsicana, Texas.
She met and married Ivy Welton Alexander Sr, October 20, 1949. To this union, three children was born: Myrtle Louise Alexander, Ivy Welton Alexander Jr., and Reginald Donnell Alexander, Sr. At the time of her death, she served as a deaconess at Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. On May 25, 2003 Mrs. Alexander was inducted as a member into the Mothers’ Board for her faithful, dedicated, and Christian service at Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Alexander started her education in Real Estate, with only one course left to take she made a career decision to become a nurse instead. Mrs. Alexander was one of the first African-American woman from Parkland Hospital to graduate from their nursing program.
Mrs. Alexander enjoyed gardening, and taking peaches from her peach tree to make her peach preserves. She also enjoyed fishing, as well as talking on the phone with her friends giving them advice on their life situations. Her main love was definitely to sing. You could always find her singing a hymn and praying. If anyone could get a prayer through Mrs. Alexander definitely could.
On Saturday, June 10, 2023, Mrs. Ida Louise Alexander entered into her eternal home of Glory. She was welcomed by her husband, Ivy W. Alexander, Sr.; her children, Myrtle, Ivy, Jr. and Reginald, Sr; her parents, Lucion, Sr., Essie Jessie; stepmother, Azzie Jessie; brothers, Lucion Jessie, Jr. and Vernon Jessie; sisters, Essie Brenham and Florene Davis.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving granddaughters, Carrie Alexander and Demitris Alexander; her devoted grandsons, Reginald Donnell Alexander, Jr. and Cameron-Jemar Alexander; five great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
