After three votes, there is no Speaker of the House. Therefore, congress has adjourned until Wednesday, 11 a.m. CST. Freshman Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, along with Congressmen Colin Allred and Marc Veasey for the North Texas delegation of the Congressional Black Caucus, each cast their votes three times for Congressman Hakeem Sekou Jeffries of New York. Congressman Jeffries actually defeated others in every tally, however he did not receive the majority of votes cast. Although Republicans lead Democrats in the House, 20 Republicans refused to support Cong. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
