A man accused of shooting a 21-year-old woman over a basketball game in South Dallas was arrested Thursday night, police say.

Cameron Hogg, 31, faces a murder charge in the death of Asia Womack. Jail records were not immediately available.

About 7:40 p.m. Oct. 3, officers were dispatched to the 4100 block of Hamilton Avenue, near Lawhon Street, where they found Womack on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. Dallas Fire-Rescue took her to a hospital, where she died.

Her mother, Andrea Womack, told The Dallas Morning News the slaying occurred after her daughter beat a man in a game at T.G. Terry Park.

“It was senseless,” Andrea Womack said at her daughter’s public viewing at Sacred Funeral Home last week. “A life, over nothing.”

An arrest warrant was issued for Hogg on Oct. 11. Police gave no details Thursday about where or how they found Hogg.

Though she didn’t refer to Hogg by name, Andrea Womack said her daughter had long trusted him.

“She took calls from him when he was in jail and would buy him whatever he needed,” Andrea Womack said. “She called him a brother.”
