GUEST: Roger Boykin, popular Dallas-based jazz musician has written a new book.
Roger Boykin is a jazz musician who plays multiple instruments including the piano and keyboard, guitar, saxophone, flute and bass. Boykin also is an arranger, composer, educator, former radio broadcaster, and author. He owns his own record label, Soultex Records, and has produced many singles and albums. He was artistic director at the popular Sammons Jazz series during the late 1990s in Dallas. And he was among a circle of musicians who made popular the “Texas Tenor” style of music made famous by players including David “Fathead” Newman and Marchel Ivery. A lover of reading from his youth, it is little-known that he also has written several books. Norma will discuss his latest book, a memoir.
