You can donate a book in the name of your loved one. Hamilton Park UMC Serenity Garden 999-year-old honoree, Mrs. Roberta A. Johnson. In her memory, the R.A.J. Library has been established for Caring Heart Residential facility in Garland, Texas. The facility serves adults in a loving private care residential home. The library will provide new and used books for adults residents age 30-85 as a library will be accumulated at this neighborhood residential facility in Garland, Texas. The library is sponsored by the Valder Beebe Show “A New Kind of Spiritual Talk Show.” Donate a book in the name of your loved one. Summer Nutrition Programs

The City of Garland has proudly supported the Summer Nutrition Program for more than 20 years and wants to ensure the youth in the community continue to receive a meal during the summer break.

CitySquare, an advocacy organization that works to fight poverty in the community, will oversee the 2019 program. The program provides free meals for children ages 1 to 18, Monday through Friday, June 3 through Aug. 9. The program provides free meals for children ages 1 to 18, Monday through Friday, June 3 through Aug. 9. Find a location serving meals near you. Texas Women’s Open at Firewheel Golf Park 1535 E. Brand Rd. Garland 972-205-3958. Garland will host the 2019 Energy Producers, Inc. Texas Women’s Open July 7-9 at Firewheel Golf Park’s Bridges Course. The tradition-rich tournament, first played in 1935, features top professional and amateur female golfers from not only Texas but across the country and globe. Players in the Championship will test their skill and ability on the Champion and Masters nines of the Bridges Course. Championship yardage will be approximately 6,200 yards on a par-72 layout. The 54-hole stroke play event will be limited to the first 144 professional and amateur contestants. Duck Creek Adventure Summer Camp, Audubon Recreation Center 342 W. Oats Rd. Garland. 9 am-5 pm. Monday-Friday. Discover and participate in the great outdoors with local group adventures. Outdoor activities include repelling, archery, rock climbing, disc golf, and outdoor cooking. This is an amazing opportunity to develop new skills, find friends with common interests, and get active! Dallas County Elections and Voting Issues Public Meeting: Dallas County is preparing to transition from precinct-based polling locations to countywide polling locations, or Vote Centers. These centers would allow Dallas County voters to cast their ballots on Election Day at any vote center in the county, regardless of their residential address. Residents can learn more about this transition at a public meeting from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, July 9, in the Allen Clemson Courtroom at the Dallas County Administration Building, 411 Elm St. in Dallas. Dallas County residents also can obtain more information about Vote Centers and provide their feedback at DallasCountyVotes.org.

The City of Garland Is Seeking Crossing Guards for the 2019-20 School Year: Join the City of Garland team with a rewarding opportunity! The City will host a hiring event Friday, July 19, at Holford Recreation Center, 2314 Homestead Place. There will be an informational session from 1-1:30 pm followed by on-site interviews from 1:45-4 pm.
