Election 2021: Boston’s first Haitian-American council member among key races decided

From Massachusetts to Florida, Haitian-American candidates ran in contested races for city council, U.S. Congress and civil court judge in the Nov. 2 elections. 

Boston will have its first Haitian-American city council member in Ruthzee Louijeune, who was elected by voters citywide for an at-large council seat, according to results from Nov. 2. 

Four New York City council candidates – Chi Osse in District 36, Rita Joseph in District 40, incumbent Farah Louis in District 45 and Mercedes Narcisse in District 46 – also won their respective general election races, unofficial election results show
