17-year-old Ursuline Academy’s Rohini Gopal plans to attend The University of Redlands in California to major in Journalism and Communications, in hopes of becoming a food critic.

With more than 100,000 restaurants in California to sample and share her experiences, she expects to be busy for quite some time.

Gopal is currently interning for Texas Metro News and this is her first step into the “real” world of Journalism and Communications, covering a subject she is passionate about. She was excited to hear Google Maps report that there are nearly 4,000 restaurants in Dallas to help jumpstart her career.

She also noted that there were more than 200 vegan restaurants across the metroplex, and she is excited about the prospect of visiting each one.

As Gopal prepares to enter her senior year, she also likes to keep up with some of her favorite hobbies, which include singing, playing the piano, and taking a spin on the peloton. She also tries to stay in shape as she enters into her final year of athletics as a Cross Country runner.

At the Academy is where Ms.Gopal said she first came into contact with Journalism and Communication. From there she knew this was something she’d be interested in and wanted to intern with Texas Metro News to gain hands-on experience and knowledge.

This stylish and charming young lady’s desire to become a food critic stems from her own experiences of not feeling satisfied by meals. Gopal decided to create an Instagram blog to assist others like herself, who are vegan, identify new restaurants to experience.

Gopal said one of her challenges has been knowing what to say and she hopes that this internship will give her clarity and wisdom so she’s able to be relevant and knowledgeable during conversations with like minded professionals.
