Sam Houston State University Alumni Association president and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® member and Theta Epsilon chapter alumni leader, Dr. Deirdre Holloway, holds all initiated at SHSU in high regard for the chapter’s legacy, often saying, “Our 0-8 started at Sam Houston State!” The reference is to the sorority’s founding in 1908.

Over 60 alumni sisters gathered, dressed in white, for Lunch en Blanc at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen in Downtown Houston on March 22, 2026. Some in attendance were the catalyst for the chapter’s present-day strength. Attendees cheered for the charter members who founded the chapter in 1973.

The sorority sisters in attendance represented various years of initiation. They dined from a curated lunch menu, had many laughs and conversations, and won lots of prizes.

Congratulations to the planning committee for orchestrating this 8th annual gathering.
