U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett just added another high-profile celebratory endorsement to her list by none other than rap mogul Cardi B.
In a Thursday Instagram story post, the rapper, who is routinely vocal about her politics and opposition to the Trump administration, urged Texas voters back the Democratic congresswoman of Dallas.
She notified her 164 million followers that early voting is underway in Texas and declared that Texas voters needed Crockett to win.
“If you want someone that’s going to fight for your rights, if you want someone who is going to fight for your community, if you want somebody who is going to go up there and represent you and represent your issues, please vote for my sister Jasmine Crockett,” she said in the nearly-minute-long video.
“One thing about it, [Crockett’s] going to fight her best, she’s going to fight whoever she has to, so your voice and your problems can be heard,” Cardi added. “Vote right now, this counts so much. Vote right now.”
Crockett’s campaign Instagram reposted Cardi’s video, saying, “Y’all heard my good sis!! She’s on a SOLD OUT tour and still took a minute to tap in. We’ve got 2 days of early voting left. Let’s goooooo!!!”
Crockett is vying in the Texas Democratic primary for U.S. Senator John Cornyn’s seat against state Rep. James Talarico.
Attorney General Ken Paxton, running in the Republican Senate primary, responded to Cardi B’s endorsement on social media, saying he is “team Nicki Minaj.” The rapper has feuded with Cardi B and expressed support for Trump, calling herself probably his “number one fan.”
The highly competitive contest has garnered significant attention through the campaign trail.
Cardi B is not the first celebrity to throw support behind Crockett; just a week ago, the congresswoman posted a video alongside Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland, encouraging voters to get out to the polls.
Crockett’s Instagram also features videos with the likes of Scandal actress Kerry Washington and Method Man, aka Clifford Smith Jr., a member of the East Coast hip-hop collective Wu-Tang Clan and half of the hip-hop duo, Method Man & Redman.
Those in the spotlight have also criticized Crockett, with the hosts of Las Culturistas, actors and comedians Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang coming under fire for their comments about the congresswoman’s Senate bid.
“Anytime a politician is making it too obviously about themselves, I’m already done,” Matt Rogers said on the podcast.
“And don’t waste your money sending to Jasmine Crockett. Do not do it,” Yang added. “I must agree.”
The two publicly apologized after backlash that pinned their remarks as racist and misogynistic.
Rogers wrote that he had “great respect and admiration for Rep. Crockett,” while Yang noted that he would use his platform “more responsibly.”
