OBIT: PRESTON W. HARRIS

Preston W. Harris, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, left this earthly realm on January 10, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. Born on May 29, 1948, in the small yet vibrant town of Mt. Vernon, Texas, he blossomed into an individual who left a lasting impact on the lives he touched. Preston was not just a security guard by profession; he was a pillar of strength and kindness in the lives of all who knew him. His easy-going demeanor, pleasant nature, and caring heart made him a beacon of light in his community.

As a dedicated member of the U.S. Air Force, Preston served his country with pride, carrying the values of discipline and duty well beyond his military tenure. His proudest accomplishments echoed throughout his life—the unshakeable relationship he built with God, his marriage to the love of his life, Barbara J. Harris, and his sincere commitment to being the best father and grandfather imaginable.

In his quiet moments, Preston found joy in the simple pleasures of life—fishing by the serene waters, hunting in the wilds, and savoring the written word through reading. His love for sports was apparent; whether he was fervently cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers or enjoying the intensity of a basketball game, he embraced every moment with an infectious enthusiasm. Preston instilled a sense of positivity in those around him, embodying a rare ability to uplift spirits while never displaying anger or ill-will. He was a man driven by faith, a true God-fearing individual who loved the Lord deeply.

Leaving behind a legacy of love that permeated through the lives of many, Preston is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara; their cherished daughter, Sandra Harris; his sister Sharon Harris; brothers Roger and Barry Harris (Camille); along with four grandsons, one granddaughter, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Additionally, he leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who carry the warmth of his memory in their hearts.

Preston W. Harris’s legacy will be honored through a series of memorial services that reflect his life of service and love. A viewing will take place at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas on February 22, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, allowing all who knew him to come together in remembrance and celebration. The funeral service will be held at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ in Dallas on February 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM, culminating with his burial at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2:00 PM that same day.

Though he may have departed from this world, the spirit of Preston W. Harris will forever remain—a gentle reminder of the power of love, faith, and a life well-lived. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of PRESTON W. HARRIS, please visit our flower store.
