OBIT: ANITA FAYE MARTIN

Anita Faye Martin, born on October 11, 1953, in Fort Worth, TX, left this world on January 29, 2026, surrounded by the love she had universally imparted throughout her life. A devoted stay-at-home mom, Anita dedicated her days to fostering growth, joy, and laughter within her family, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.

Those who had the privilege of crossing her path remember Anita for her vibrant personality. She was a tapestry of warmth and generosity, always giving of herself – whether that meant lending a compassionate ear, sharing a hearty laugh, or offering forgiveness without reservation. Her laughter was infectious, brightening even the gloomiest of days, while her devotion to God and family was unwavering, serving as the cornerstone of her existence.

Anita was not just a mother; she was a nurturing spirit whose proudest accomplishments were her five children: Anita Walter-Dunn (Dewayne), Tomika Laday, DeShaun Walter, Brandon Martin (Ngozi), and Marquis C. Martin. She was a grandmother to six cherished grandchildren, Brittnee (Marquis), DonTario, D’Ajah and D’Maya, KeShaun and DeShaun, and a great-grandmother to four little ones who brought endless joy into her world. Surrounded by the laughter and love of her family, she thrived, finding purpose in every stitch she sewed, every meal she prepared, and every moment spent together.

Her interests were as lively as her spirit. Anita was an enthusiast for singing, an adept seamstress, and a passionate cook who found delight in shopping online. She was also a gamer, unraveling stories through digital adventures, and could often be found comfortably settled on her couch laughing at her favorite Madea films. In addition, her love for animals reflected her boundless capacity for love, embracing all creatures with kindness.

She is survived by two devoted sisters, Linda Burnett and Helen Henderson, and two brothers, James Alridge and Lloyd Alridge(Carol), all of whom held her dear. However, the loss of her son, Dewayne Martin, and her beloved husband, Tommie Martin, along with siblings Bertie Criss, Waymon Alridge, Glory Dantzler, Charles Alridge, G.W. Alridge, and Frankie Alridge Jr., will forever be felt in the fabric of her family’s legacy. These cherished memories of those who have departed together with the love Anita shared will hold a sacred place in their hearts.

As Anita embarks on her ethereal journey, we celebrate a life rich with affection, spirit, and connection. Her love for family and friends, her resounding laughter, and her eternal forgiveness will perpetually echo in the lives she touched. The world may have dimmed a little, but the light she infused into the hearts of her loved ones will forever shine brightly, guiding them as they walk the paths etched by her enduring love.
