Tucson, Arizona — Dallas breast cancer advocate Sylvia Powers recently attended the 14th Annual Escape to Thrive Leadership Conference, held at Miraval Arizona Resort & Spa in Tucson, Arizona.

The transformative leadership experience brought together cancer advocates, survivors, nonprofit leaders, and changemakers from across the country for a time of renewal, collaboration, and purpose-driven growth.

“There are no words to express the gratitude that I felt for being selected as one of 40 cancer advocates nationwide to attend this incredible leadership conference,” said Powers, who was chosen for her advocacy work with the Celebrating Life Foundation and the National Consortium of Breast Centers (NCBC).

A program of Bag It Cancer, the conference focused on resilience, advocacy, and empowering members of the cancer community to thrive personally and professionally. Powers’ participation reflects her continued commitment to leadership development, survivor advocacy, and expanding her impact through collaboration and service.

During the closing ceremony of the Escape to Thrive Leadership Conference, Sylvia Powers was selected to light the ceremonial candle, symbolizing hope, resilience, and continued commitment to cancer advocacy.

One of the most meaningful aspects of the conference, according to Powers, was the opportunity to collaborate with cancer advocates from across the country. That sentiment was echoed by fellow attendee Daria Ross, Patient and Community Impact Advocate from Michigan.

“THRIVE was an unforgettable advocacy experience—the perfect reset. I am energized and deeply inspired to continue the vital work of increasing cancer survivorship,” Ross said.

The Escape to Thrive Leadership Conference brings cancer advocates together for learning, networking, and renewal, with the ultimate goal of improving cancer patient education and outreach.
