Mavs Host 2026 Black History Month Art Contest

To honor Black History and inspire future changemakers, the Dallas Mavericks are hosting the 2026 Black History Month Art Contest, open now through Feb. 13.

North Texas students in grades 8 – 12, are encouraged to create and digitally submit a visual medium that represents Black History and the growth of representation of Black Culture in the arts through different eras of time. The Mavericks selection committee will administer and choose winners based on level of relation to theme, originality and creativity, and educational value.

The selected top five Grand Prize winners will receive an all-expenses paid trip to New Orleans from March 14 – 17, where the group will visit historical sites and attend the Mavs vs. Pelicans game. The Grand Prize winners will also be invited to a special experience and recognized on-court during the Feb. 27 Mavericks home game.

Throughout the month of March, the top five artists’ work will be featured in the African American Museum of Dallas. For official rules and details, please visit mavs.com/art.
