
Mayor Sharon Owens is the 55th mayor of Syracuse, New York —the first Black mayor and the second female mayor in the city’s history. She served as Deputy Mayor from 2018-2025 and enjoyed stints as CEO of Syracuse Community Connections, Deputy Commissioner of the City of Syracuse, and assistant director of Home HeadQuarters, Inc. The Mayor is a results-driven executive with more than 30 years of experience in policy development and service model implementation. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Syracuse University, and she is the mother of two.
