OBIT: PEGGY ANN AIKINS DONERLSON

Peggy Ann Aikins Donerlson, a beloved soul, graced this world on October 22, 1937, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, as the cherished daughter of Haywood and Emma Gene Aikins. After completing her education at Booker T. Washington High School, Peggy set off for Dallas, where she would begin a new chapter in her life.

In Dallas, Peggy met and married Phillip Elijah Donerlson, who later preceded her in death. She became a devoted member of the Greater Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, where her unwavering faith and vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. For years, Peggy dedicated herself to her work at various fulfillment centers in the DFW metroplex, where she was known not just for her diligence but also for her infectious laughter.

Peggy found joy in life’s simple pleasures – whether it was attending church services, exploring thrift shops, or cheering on her favorite sports teams while enjoying an episode of Wheel of Fortune. Her humorous spirit made her a favorite among family and friends, lighting up every room she entered.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her two daughters, Itheria “Nannete” Jones and Dana Tamara Donerlson, both from Dallas, TX; her dear sister, Patsy Aikins Allen of Mount Pleasant, TX; and five grandchildren: Corey Smith (Shonda) of Mesquite, TX, Roderick Aikins of Dallas, TX, Yutease Warren of Dallas, TX, Willie Lee Beck Jr. (Torri) of Waxahachie, TX, and Courtney S. Beck of Dallas, TX. Peggy’s heart was further blessed by a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, along with two special daughters, Beverly Simmons and Chiacom Oparaochack, and two special sons, Willie Sewell and Edwin Oparaochack.

Though Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Haywood and Emma Gene Aikins; her daughter, Sharon Gale Beck; her granddaughter, Zania Ja’Quay Shields; and her brothers and sisters, she leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and faith that will resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.

As we remember Peggy, let us celebrate a life well-lived, filled with joy and devotion. She shall be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to walk beside her.
