Millie Jackson is known for her power vocals and candid spoken-word interludes. An R&B and Soul singer-songwriter, she’s also appeared in the rap genre, notably with Whodini. As a teenager, she modeled for several magazines, including JIVE and Sepia. Born in Thomson, Georgia, her family moved North, first to Newark, New Jersey and to the New York City area. She began her career as a back-up singer for her family’s gospel group. Often praised for her business acumen, she also has worked as a radio personality, even hosting a show on Dallas (TX) Soul 73, KKDA-AM.
