The streak lives on — and keeps growing.

The Winston-Salem State University women’s basketball team notched its 14th straight win Monday night, rolling past Virginia State 65–52 to continue a run that’s quickly becoming one of the most memorable in program history.

The Rams, now 14–1 overall and 5–0 in the CIAA, looked every bit like a team on a mission. Senior guard Jakaiya Mack powered the offense with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Makayla Waleed added 14 points and Breonna Roaf chipped in 11 to help fuel the victory.

Rams Defense Sets the Tone

True to form, WSSU’s defense was the engine behind its success. The Rams forced 26 turnovers, converting them into 20 points while shooting an efficient 50 percent from the field. They dominated the paint with 32 points inside and cleaned up the glass with 35 rebounds.

The Rams set the pace early, racing to a 20–11 lead after the first quarter behind Nevaeh Farmer’s quick layup and a flurry of fast-break points.

Virginia State showed fight in the second quarter, slicing the lead to single digits before Roaf buried a three-pointer and Biosse followed with another to swing momentum back WSSU’s way.

The Trojans made another push in the third, closing within four, but Waleed steadied the Rams with clutch drives to the rim. In the final quarter, Biosse’s deep three-pointer and Mack’s late steal-and-score sealed the game — and preserved the historic streak.

As their win total climbs, the Rams aren’t just racking up victories; they’re defining what a championship-caliber team looks like.
