OBIT: Annie Lee Debase

Annie Lee Debase, fondly known as “Sweet Doll,” departed this world on November 10, 2025, leaving behind a legacy woven with threads of love, kindness, and an industrious spirit that inspired all who were fortunate to walk alongside her. Born on September 28, 1937, in the quaint village of Ike, Annie blossomed into a remarkable individual, nurturing a passion for travel that led her to explore both the familiar and the exotic.

From an early age, Annie’s deep faith illuminated her path, guiding her through life’s myriad challenges. Making the sacred decision to accept Christ into her life as a young girl, she became a steadfast anchor in her church community. Her melodious voice reverberated through the hallowed halls as sang in the choir, filling the space with joy and warmth. Those who had the pleasure of hearing her sing were often moved by the divine connection she shared with her audience, drawing them closer to the spiritual realm she held dear.

Annie’s devotion extended beyond music; she actively contributed to the Bernice D. Hodge Women’s Missionary Society, tirelessly working to uplift and empower those around her. Her commitment to education was palpable in her valuable contributions at the church school, where she dedicated countless hours nurturing the minds and spirits of the next generation. Annie understood that knowledge and faith must intertwine, and she made it her mission to instill these values in everyone she encountered.

Her affectionate demeanor and unwavering work ethic endeared her to many. Those who reached out to her found a nurturer at heart, someone who could turn an ordinary moment into something truly extraordinary with just a smile. Annie embraced life fully, welcoming challenges with open arms and navigating them with grace.

The tapestry of her existence will be honored and celebrated during the wake on November 19, 2025, from 7:15 PM to 8:15 PM, at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. A funeral service will follow on November 20, 2025, at 11 AM at Greater St. James Temple AME Church, also located in Dallas. These gatherings will be opportunities for family, friends, and community members to share memories, pay tribute to her indomitable spirit, and reflect on the profound impact she had on their lives.

Annie Lee Debase is survived by loving family and friends who will cherish her memory deeply. As they come together to honor her life and legacy, they will ensure that her kindness continues to resonate through the lives she touched. While she may no longer walk alongside them, her spirit will forever be a guiding light, illuminating paths steeped in love and warmth.
