Jackson State’s ground game dominated again on Saturday.

Running backs Travis Terrell Jr., Donerio Davenport, and Ahmad Miller each surpassed the 100-yard mark to carry the Tigers past Bethune-Cookman 28-13.

The trio powered a 360-yard rushing effort that lifted the Tigers to 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the SWAC.

Terrell led the attack with 103 yards on 11 carries, including a 25-yard touchdown burst. Davenport added 106 yards and a 6-yard scoring run, highlighted by a 36-yard dash that set up another score. Miller chipped in 118 yards on 22 carries to round out Jackson State’s dominant performance on the ground.

“That’s the whole standard for us,” said Miller after the game. It was a solid game for all of us. We went out there and executed. Just going into next week, we have to have the same mindset. We are all capable of doing that every week.”

Quarterback Jared Lockhart wasted no time putting the Tigers on the board, hitting Jameel Gardner Jr. for an 83-yard touchdown just 44 seconds into the game. Bethune-Cookman (5-6, 4-3) answered immediately when Javon Ross took the ensuing kickoff to the house, tying it 7-7 before the first minute expired.

Despite outgaining the Wildcats 342–93 in the first half, Jackson State led just 14-10 at halftime after a missed field goal and a Lockhart interception led to a Bethune-Cookman field goal as time expired.

Lockhart finished 12 of 21 for 160 yards through the air.
