Community Invited to Support Scholarships and Educational Programs on November 15 at AAEAHP Inaugural Free Throw Challenge

Professional Athletes Expected to Drop In

DALLAS, TX – The African American Education Archives and History Program (AAEAHP) is excited to announce the upcoming Free Throw Challenge, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, at DeSoto High School Chris Dyer Gym from 8:00 AM to Noon. This energetic event promises an engaging morning of basketball, music, and community spirit, all in support of empowering local students and educational initiatives.

Popular radio host Donovan Lewis (1310/96.7 The Ticket) will energize the event as the Emcee, bringing his well-known enthusiasm to the celebration. Guests can expect appearances from local celebrities such as Josh Howard, former NBA player and current Head Men’s Basketball Coach at the University of North Texas at Dallas, who will join in as shooters to guarantee exciting competition and entertainment. DJ Tr3mendous will set the tone for the day, providing an upbeat soundtrack that promises a lively atmosphere for everyone.

The Free Throw Challenge is a vital fundraiser for AAEAHP. Funds raised will support student scholarships, the Sankofa Children’s Center, the TEACH Project in partnership with DeSoto High School, and other essential AAEAHP initiatives dedicated to educational excellence and opportunity.
