Superb Woman: Ledisi

Ledisi Anibade Young, known professionally as Ledisi, is an American singer-songwriter, music producer, author, and actress. Her name means “to bring forth” in Yoruba. She released her debut album, Soulsinger, in 2000 and has since released eight albums. In 2020, she launched her record label, Listen Back Entertainment, and won a Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance. Beyond music, Ledisi is also an advocate for public health and social awareness. In November 2017, she became an ambassador for the Black AIDS Institute because she said she wanted “to work with everybody who’s involved that are dealing with AIDS and HIV, and AIDS/HIV prevention — anything just to spread the word about that and stop all the stigmas.”
