OBIT: Dora Jean Clark

Dora Jean Clark, born on February 2, 1945, in Lockhart, Texas, bid farewell to this world on October 5, 2025, at the age of 80 in Houston, Texas. A devoted mother, loving grandmother, and an ever-sparkling personality, Dora was a true firecracker whose zest for life brought joy and warmth to everyone who knew her.

As a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant in the health care industry, Dora dedicated herself to the care and comfort of others. She touched countless lives with her spunky spirit and nurturing heart, always going above and beyond to offer kindness to both patients and colleagues alike.

Dora was not only a dedicated professional but also a proud high school graduate who believed in the value of education. She is survived by her beloved children, Robert Clark, Delores Chaney, and LaVerne Clark, along with her daughter-in-law, Rosalind Clark. Her home was further brightened by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many loved ones, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Dora’s interests were as diverse as her vibrant personality. She had a unique hobby of collecting angels and crosses, symbolizing her faith and hope. A lover of old movies, she filled her evenings with cinematic tales, rarely missing her daily dose of local news. An ardent Dallas Cowboys fan, she cheered passionately for her team, while enjoying the simple pleasures of dark chocolate, Subway sandwiches, pizza, and Whataburger hamburgers; foods that brought her happiness and comfort.

Dora will now be reunited with her parents Sammie Byrd, Sr. and Lester Harris Byrd, her siblings: Reather Lee Battle, Lonnie B. Byrd, Sr., Alma Marie Byrd, Lee Everette Byrd, Sammie Lee Byrd, Jr., Nadlene Outlaw, Armene Byrd Sauls, Orene Byrd Hardeman, and LD Byrd, Sr., as well as her beloved daughter, Sandra Clark, and two sons-in-law, Terry Chaney and Larry Lane. Each of these individuals held a special place in her heart, and their memories live on in the many stories shared by family and friends.

As we gather to honor and celebrate Dora’s life, we invite you to join us for a Viewing from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and a Funeral Service taking place at 1:00 PM on October 18, 2025, at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, located at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, Texas.

Dora Jean Clark will forever be remembered as a loving mother, cherished friend, and a vibrant soul whose spirit ignited laughter and love. While she may have left this earthly realm, her legacy of compassion and joy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
