AUSTIN – It is probably not undercover anymore when you announce it in a media release.
Nevertheless, last week Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sent out a release letting everyone know he will be “launching undercover operations to infiltrate and uproot leftist terror cells in Texas after increased political violence.”
Texans took to social media in response to the “undercover” operation announcement with comments “Undercover? So, you post on social media?” and “Undercover with a press release? Brilliant.”
Perhaps Paxton is using the “Scare them so they go away” tactic.
He said the move to go undercover was in response to the political assassination of Charlie Kirk “and the disturbing rise of leftist violence across the country.”
Paxton insinuated there are also “various groups affiliated with left-wing political violence known to be operating in Texas.”
He said “Leftist political terrorism is a clear and present danger. Corrupted ideologies like transgenderism and Antifa are a cancer on our culture and have unleashed their deranged and drugged-up foot soldiers on the American people. The martyrdom of Charlie Kirk marks a turning point in America. There can be no compromise with those who want us dead. To that end, I have directed my office to continue its efforts to identify, investigate, and infiltrate these leftist terror cells. To those demented souls who seek to kill, steal, and destroy our country, know this: you cannot hide, you cannot escape, and justice is coming.”
While I believe most Texans (if not all) are 100% behind an end to increased political violence I wonder if Paxton is aware of the large number of Americans putting together facts about Kirk’s death and calling it a PSYOP. While I won’t get into that here, I suggest everyone do their research because it is both sides of the aisle raising a red flag on that incident and the missing pieces involving Kirk’s unfortunate assassination.
To that end, Paxton said “The radical Left has incubated an environment where political violence is not only justified but celebrated and praised.”
In July, Paxton cited there were nearly two dozen armed leftists connected to various Texas-based Antifa-like groups ambushed an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) facility in Alvarado, Texas.
He also connected the “radical transgender movement” involving Kirk’s assassination to “another deranged leftist” who opened fire at an ICE facility in Dallas.
However, it was not ICE agents, but detainees that were harmed in that incident, which Paxton did not mention in his release.
Media outlets The Texas Tribune and Newsweek also reminded that the Dallas ICE attack shooter’s political affiliation was not reported and there was no evidence linking him to an organized terrorist cell.
President Donald Trump has designated Antifa a domestic terrorist organization and told his administration to “utilize all applicable authorities to investigate, disrupt, and dismantle any and all illegal operations — especially those involving terrorist actions — conducted by Antifa.”
Paxton’s move is apparently in response to that statement. However, it is important to remember the Department of Homeland Security did recently cut $18.5 million in funding and laid off 20% of staff at The Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships, which is a DHS program to prevent violence and terrorism.
